Single Origin Editions and Blends

HERITAGE BLEND

The Pedigree

The limited edition Heritage Blend is Holmes Cay founder Eric Kaye’s tribute to the three rum traditions that arose in the Caribbean basin.

Bottled at 43% alcohol by volume, the Heritage Blend shows up gracefully in classic and tiki cocktails and is a great sipper on its own.

The components of the blend were chosen to celebrate the diversity and versatility of rum, incorporating the three styles of rum, rhum and ron.

  • Barbados Rum Molasses-based Pot / column still blend
  • Venezuela Ron Molasses-based Column still
  • Martinique Rhum Cane juice-based Column still

In the Heritage Blend, aged pot and column distillates from molasses and cane juice sources create the unique flavors. No sugar, no color and no other flavors are added in the making of this rum.

RÉUNION ISLAND RUM TRADITIONNEL

The Pedigree

The Holmes Cay Réunion Island Rum Traditionnel – Single Origin Edition is a molasses rum from the Distillery de Savanna of Réunion Island, a French “department” or state in the Indian Ocean. This beauty was distilled on a stainless steel column still from local cane molasses and was tropically aged for three years in ex-cognac casks. This is the first time that this 3-year expression has been available in the US.

When the new generation of tiki fans began to rediscover tiki’s classic recipes, some of those early recipes simply called for Martinique rum. Unaware that Martinique’s main production style and US imports had changed from a molasses to a cane juice style, many have used agricole style rum in their recreations of classic cocktail recipes like the Mai Tai. Fortunately, on Réunion Island, the French style of molasses rum production has continued. Bringing Rum Traditionnel to the US restores a lost flavor, whether you enjoy retro or modern cocktail recipes.

Tasting notes

Cola on the nose leads to a lush palate of rich vanilla, bright citrus, warming cinnamon, and nutmeg, with a light, crisp finish.
