Guyana Albion 2014

The Albion mark was originally produced at the defunct Albion Estate distillery in Guyana on the historic Port Mourant double wooden vat still. The still was originally from the Port Mourant estate and dates from 1732, making it the oldest continuously operating wooden still. Its cylindrical vats are made from ultra dense Guyanese greenheart wood staves, attached to a copper neck. The rum from this still was an important component of the British Royal Navy rum blend. This rare rum mark is now distilled at Diamond Distillery, the only remaining distillery in Guyana. The Albion has a lighter profile than the traditional Port Mourant mark, also produced on this heritage still.

This expression is a 100% molasses pot still rum aged for 8 years in the UK and 1 year in New York in ex-rum casks and presented at 60% alcohol by volume.
